If you've never taken the plunge to get involved in political action, we encourage you to get to know us by attending a meeting. We are a growing local party, but we need more people like you to step up and share your perspective. We are building teams of people to tackle projects like data entry and analytics, voter registration, special events, social media and content management, and candidate support and canvassing.
Meet and Greet the Candidates at Tangie’s
Soul food can be hard to find in McHenry County, so you won't want to miss our Candidates Meet n Greet at Tangie's Kitchen at noon on Sunday, May 5th.
Come on out and chat with Theresa Meshes, running for re-election to the county board in District 1; Kelli Wegener, current board member in District 5 and now running county-wide for Chair of the board; Mary Mahady, McHenry Township Assessor and running for State Representative in District 63; Rester Dogboe, our candidate for county board in District 3; and Brian Meyers, our candidate for county board in District 4.
Tangie's is the creation of our very own Tangie Taylor, "specializes in comfort food, BBQ, soul food, fried chicken, and burgers," and delivers. It's got a full menu, and for this event we're planning some scrumptious samplers -- wings, mac n cheese, greens, cornbread, and more.
Tangie's is at 3106 Three Oaks Road in Cary, on the north side just east of Route 14. See you there!

District Two Campaign Coffeeklatsch
Please join us for coffee with our Democratic candidates in District Two – John Collins and Kelli Wegener, and Gloria Van Hof. It’s on Saturday, May 11th, from 11 am to noon, at a private residence in Crystal Lake. Please RSVP and we'll send you the address.
Kelli Wegener has been a member of the McHenry County Board since 2018, and is running county-wide for McHenry County Board Chair. She's a public servant, mother, wife, and financial professional dedicated to practical, moderate progress for McHenry County. With her record of bipartisanship, collaboration and transparency, she is prepared to serve all McHenry County residents as Chairperson. John Collins previously served on the McHenry County Board and is running here in District 2. When he's elected, we'll be the first district to be represented solely by Democrats ! In his previous tenure on the board, he promoted the expansion of Ride McHenry County, voted to reduce the board's size, supported the creation of Advanced McHenry County and worked on the Randall Road expansion project. Learn how to get into VoteBuilder, find people, get voting history, and make call lists from our resident VoteBuilder pro, Renee Hill.
Beginner course for those needing help getting going with VoteBuilder or MiniVAN. This group session is at the Woodstock office for 1 hour. Drop in from 3:00 pm to 4:00 pm, bring your laptop or tablet and join the fun!
Subjects include:
- How to make a list and find your voters.
- Track Vote by Mail (VBM) ballots - who has them and who has returned them.
- How to build your phone bank.
- How to get your list into MiniVan.

The primary is over and it's time to get to work. Please join our open discussion with local Democrats including candidates. Let’s talk about ways to get out our Democratic votes. Expect a stimulating conversation!
Food and drinks (very, very good, especially their pizza!) will be available for purchase at the bar. Please patronize Pub 47's offerings as they are generously allowing us the use of their back room without charge.

Rester's Barbecue and Fundraiser
Rester Dogboe is our Democratic candidate for county board from District 3, and promises "an unwavering commitment to integrity, prudent and accountable public resource management, and a commitment to diversifying and expanding revenue sources by supporting local businesses and promoting new technology." He writes, "Originally from Ghana, I came to the US ten years ago with my wife and young son. We became naturalized US citizens as soon as we could, and are grateful that we could create better lives for our family in McHenry County."
